Currently under construction and slated for completion in September of 2008. Located in the heart of Belltown at 1st and Bell (address 2233 First Ave), Alex Condominiums will feature only 34 one and two bedroom homes with square footage ranging between 600-1200 sq ft. Prices are expected to range from $500,000 to over $2 million.
Alex is going to be a nine story historically-inspired boutique building. Saltaire (the developer) and Snell Partnership (the architect) are seeking to blend old-world Seattle charm with 21st century engineering and materials. Snell Partnership was the architect for the Pomeroy and the Austin Bell building, both of which have outstanding reputations.
Concrete and steel construction, two levels of underground parking, two decks, and a rooftop lap pool are some of the building's features. Alex is doing something interesting in that they are planning on designing the unit out to match the profile of the buyer, rather than letting the buyer pick from a few designs. I like this concept, as I have been to multiple sales centers where it is very difficult for my buyers to understand what they are looking at and possibly purchasing. I think this more personalized approach to design will be attractive and beneficial to buyers.
I think that the exterior of this building will draw quite a bit of interest and should be really beautiful. Rumor has it that an artist's mural will grace one side of the building on Bell Street.
Selling begins May of 2008.
